BELLADRUM’S OVER

So it must be nearly Christmas!

Did you do it all? see it all? love it all? are you festivalled out? Sometimes even one day and one dream band can be a little bit overwhelming – like my review reveals. Time to reflect while you are choosing your Christmas cards…

But no, seriously, so much still to come and lots of reasons to keep believing in summer – the filthy heat, the yellowing leaves. Autumn on its way. But first, loads of things to see and experience yet.

Like the continuing joys of Under Canvas at Eden Court ADAM ROSS and RACHEL SERMANNI  Sunday Aug 23, from 2pm. just over a week away.  The Human League.

Another reminder for a must-see if you like your  bands/local musicians/ in bumper packs. Inverness label supremo and gig promoter IAIN McLAUGHLIN has planned an IMOUT label live weekender (Oct 23 and 24). Tickets are now on sale for the spectacular two days at An Seomar with 15 of the brightest and best set to perform.

And advance notice that Inverness singer-songwriter KATIE GREGSON-MACLEOD will release her debut album Albatross on November 6. Plenty of time to pre-order, but there is also a track Nothing Really Changes out now, everywhere, Katie says!

But we are very much moving if you can very much move into the Season Of The Book.

First up, former Charleston pupil CAL FLYN will be talking about her latest book The Savage Landscape which took her across the world to find and try to understand wilderness – from the ocean floor to volcanoes, going in search of Transylvanian brown bears to  spending time with Nepal’s Bon people. Cal will be at HighlandLIT on Thursday September 10, tickets with concessions at Eventbrite.

Nairn Book & Arts Festival returns (August 29-September 6) – guests include Nicola Sturgeon, Douglas Stuart, crime writers Doug Johnstone, Marion Todd – and loads of other events www.nairnfestival.co.uk

And up at the St Duthac Book & Arts Festival Tain from September 8-13, comedian Helen Lederer, food writer Sue Lawrence and Inverness-born Broadway theatre director John Doyle. www.stduthacbookfest.com
